I regularly give a talk at our cardiac rehab centre about my recovery after my heart attack and bypass surgery in 2007 and how I dealt with depression. I have put three of my talks on You Tube which you can view by visiting my channel on You Tube.

Excuse me squire!! My treatment methods are listed for others too see on here!! They were put there to help others!! Pardon my indignant nature but i do believe, in one of your earlier posts, you offered advice on how to overcome depression successfully as you have done?? I've only asked you to share your advice with others not engage in a petty argument!! We should all encourage each other to be getting well not otherwise!!

I take it you are not suffering with depression, because if you were, you would'nt be so sarcastic.

The Government will not get you out of depression!!! They will keep you there with there nonsensical approach to tackling depression! It really all depends on the extent / severity of your depression!! I am fearful of putting myself in the hands of another!! Of course there are cases when some may have to!! Ultimately we can all work together to conquer this without the help of the very ppl that wish to keep us sick!! The Gov!! Meditation / Yoga, desire, determination, music, exercise = cure!!

I take it your working on giving us this advice then??

I personally am also in favor of natural cures. However, it is important to see a psychologist. A good psychologist will be willing to work with you if you are opposed to medication. But for 99% of us out there, you can't do this on your own (sorry to break you the news). Cognitive behavioral therapy is popular for dysthymia because it helps make sense of and change the background noise cluttering our brains, often the underlying cause of the depression. Good luck!

My recommendation: Seek help. The sooner you begin to start a path of healing, the more effective your recovery will be. The bad news is that there is no one singular all-inclusive cure. The good news is there a lots of options so you can find the help which most suits you. I would recommend starting with going to a psychologist to get a proper diagnosis. Also, you should get a blood test to rule out vitamin deficiency or thyroid issues, etc. Good luck! You will get better!
